“In cities and rural communities all over the world, we see an explosive revival of civic life, as people organise themselves to rebuild society from the bottom up.” George Monbiot
We are building a community network committed to sustainability and activating the urban commons for a better future, by people, for people. We aim to shine a spotlight on sharing, solidarity and the new economy in Cardiff. We care about active citizenship and civic participation.

Sharing, as a social movement, has the capacity to move us from where we are to where we want to be. There are a range of tools and principles that we can harness to make our city, and the communities within, thrive.
Let’s build something together and see what happens!

Seedlings: Stories of Community from the City
In order to shine a light on stories of the new world emerging from Cardiff, we will begin a quarterly journal. A place to showcase the people and projects making Cardiff a sustainable, sharing focused, participatory city. If you have a story you would like to contribute, please do get in contact.
If you have a project or community group you’d like to add to the map, you can do so below.
Walk & Talk
After a successful series of walk & talk events with Cardiff Coalition, we will continue on this part of the journey. The events are a chance to take part in deep conversations with people and a moment to explore new places in the city. Also good to enjoy a cuppa in a local independent cafe!
Our Autumn Walk & Talk event will be on Saturday October 11th, 2pm – 4pm. We will meet in the garden area just outside Cathays Youth and Community Project, Cathays Terrace. Edible Cardiff are having a community garden open day, so we thought it would be a good thing to visit a community garden, Global Gardens. The conversation will be themed around the Incredible Edible movement, urban farming and the future of food in our city. What might local, sustainable food production and distribution look like? How can we support the Food Manifesto? How can we support Edible Cardiff, which is emerging in our city?
A monthly meet-up for coming together, getting to know one another and offering mutual support, sharing ideas, planning, and organising. Next meeting: Wednesday 8th November 6pm – 8pm at Ride My Bike Cafe. For details of upcoming events, see here.
